We’ve had such a great week recently. In one week, we received news that Solana would be bumped up in math because she’s so damn smart. Then her volleyball coach invited her to play on the 6th grade volleyball team, despite the fact that she’s only in 5th grade! And then she was selected for the yearbook club as a photographer!! We are so proud of Solana and these major accomplishments!!
Additionally, we received really good news about Sienna too. Just to make sure I don’t get any of it wrong, I’m attaching the email her teacher sent us. Needless to say, it brought me and Brax to tears and made our moms cry too. We have a very special little girl…
Hi Veronica and Braxton,
Sienna is having so much fun on her birthday! This morning I gave Sienna her birthday crown, birthday pencil, and birthday certificate followed by a special birthday sticker. 🙂 She is very excited to celebrate her birthday tonight with her family.
I wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your daughter. As a teacher, I have been fortunate enough to teach many students throughout my 5 years of experience. However, rarely do I get to meet students like Sienna.
Sienna’s maturity, self-control, discipline, ability to focus, and compassion are outstanding and very advanced for her age. She is one of the sweetest, kindest, and most empathetic young students that I’ve met.
I’m very proud of her academic skills- her writing is gorgeous, her reading is above level, and she is a very quick learner in math. However, I am most impressed with her heart and her personality. Those are skills that you cannot teach-she must have learned them from you!
You have raised one special little girl and I’m very happy to have her as a student this year. She is one-of-a-kind. 🙂
It’s been a year since I’ve written. It’s summer time and Solana is about to enter 5th grade!! OMG. Seriously. She’s like a little teenager. And Sienna is about to enter 1st grade; she’s 6 going on 13! She tries to keep up with her sissy in every way, and has a real sense of fashion. Meanwhile, Sol is always aggravated that Si follows her, and she just likes to keep to her smart self 😉
I can’t believe how grown up both my girls are. Sol is 8 and in 3rd grade, and Si is 5 and in PreK. It’s so cool to see their development and how they begin to decipher life and deduce on their own. I’m so blessed.
So we are at the house last night, by ourselves as always. And the door bell rings. Of course, as is our typical mode of operation, I look at the girls and tell them to be quiet, ignore the door and let the stranger walk away.
Well the person wouldn’t leave; instead they kept ringing the door bell and then just stood outside the door. Well, Solana starts panicking – I mean really freaking out and crying because in her mind this person is not going away and wants to come in our house. So I start looking out the window to try to get a closer look at this stranger and I notice that it is in fact a guy. When I tell the girls the “guy” is still sitting there and to be quiet, Sienna, without any hesitation says, “Is he cute???”
Oh Lord!! I have my hands full!!!!!
Today is Solana’s seventh birthday. Sienna, Vee and I woke her up singing Happy Birthday. Then Vee took her to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast before school. Then we met Honee and Papa for dinner at her favorite restaurant, Cannoli Joe’s. It was a good day. Happy Birthday baby!
Everytime I hear the song “Beautiful Soul” by Jessie McCartney, I think of my beautiful Sol. I love you baby!!
So for homework tonight, Sol had to answer some questions about herself. One of the questions was in regards to what embarrasses her. She looked down at her paper and said, “meeting new people.” And then she started crying. It just broke my heart so much. I hugged her and let her cry on my shoulder and told her that being shy was not a bad thing. I told her that her daddy was very shy and that that was one of the reasons I loved him.
It was a very touching moment. I love my shy girl so much. And would never want her to be any different.
Sienna is so funny. She just wouldn’t go poo-poo in the potty until SHE was ready. And now, I guess she’s ready because she’s been doing it and is so happy about it she often calls us in there to see the result! lol
The girls have both done very well in school…I’m so proud of them.
Solana’s 1st grade teacher, Mrs Kelly, told me that she is very smart and super sweet. She also told me that Sol is reading at almost a 3rd grade level!!! My baby is soooo smart!!
And Sienna’s teacher, Mrs Rachel, told me that she’s the best artist in the class. She also said that Si is very smart and speaks Spanish very well.
I’m very proud of my girls, and thank God everyday for blessing me with wonderful, healthy little girls.
We found out today that Solana is reading at a 2nd grade level even though she is only in kindergaarten. We were also advised to have her tested for talented and gifted classes. We are so proud. I was in talented and gifted classes most of my school years so I am glad that she might be able to do so as well. It is way to early to tell anything but none the less it was great news.
